The 14th anniversary of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill’s enthronement is marked by Divine Liturgy at Christ the Saviour Cathedral

















On February 1, 2023, the 14th
anniversary of the enthronement of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Cathedral Church of Christ the Saviour in Moscow by the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church attired in his enthronement vestments, Press Service of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia reports.
His Holiness was assisted by a great assembly of hierarchs and clergymen of the Russian Orthodox Church, including the Holy Synod members, heads of the Synodal departments, and abbots of the stavropegic monasteries.
The service was attended by high government and church officials, mother superiors of convents, Moscow and Moscow region clergy, staff members of the Synodal and other church structures, representatives of parish councils, professors and students of the church educational institutions.
Liturgical hymns were sung by the choir of Christ the Saviour Cathedral conducted by Iliya Tolkachev.
Patriarchal divine service was broadcast live by Soyuz and Spas TV channels and Patriarchia.ru - the official site of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Included in the Litany of Fervent Supplication were special petitions for His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and the Russian Church which he is leading. After the Litany, special petitions were offered up for Holy Rus’, and His Holiness read a prayer.
Metropolitan Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga read a prayer for the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Bishop Siluan of Pavlovsky Posad, deputy chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate, delivered a sermon before Holy Communion.
The Liturgy being over, Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan read out the congratulatory address from the Holy Synod members and presented His Holiness with a memorable cross.
Mr. Igor Shchegolev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District, read out greetings from the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church addressed the participants in the solemn divine service with a primatial homily.
