His Holiness Patriarch Kirill chairing a meeting of the Supreme Church Council

On March 18, 2022, the Supreme Church Council of the Russian Orthodox Church began its meeting chaired by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia at the Supreme Church Council Hall of the Cathedral Church of Christ the Saviour in Moscow, the Patriarchal Press Service reports.

Opening the meeting, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill addressed the members of the Supreme Church Council with introductory remarks and announced the agenda.

The Supreme Church Council chaired by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill includes the following members:

The chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk;

The chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Dionisy of Voskresensk;

The chairman of the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Clement of Kaluga and Borovsk;

The chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monastics, Metropolitan Feognost of Kashira;

The chairman of the Synodal Department for Cooperation with the Cossacks, Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomysk;

The chairman of the Patriarchal Commission for Physical Culture and Sports, Metropolitan Mitrofan of Murmansk and Monchegorsk;

The chairman of the Patriarchal Council for Culture, Metropolitan Tikhon of Pskov and Porkhov;

The head of the Moscow Patriarchate Office for Institutions Abroad, Metropolitan Anthony of Chersonesus and Western Europe;

The chairman of the Synodal Department for Religious Education and Catechisation, Metropolitan Yevgeny of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye;

The chairman of the Synodal Department for Ministry in Prisons, Bishop Irinarkh of Ramenki;

The chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service, Bishop Panteleimon of Vereya;

The chairman of the Synodal Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Bodies, Bishop Savvaty of Bronnitsy;

The head of the Moscow Patriarchate Administrative Secretariat, Bishop Foma of Odintsovo and Krasnogorsk;

The chairman of the Russian Orthodox Church Education Committee, Archpriest Maxim Kozlov;

The chairman of the Synodal Mission Department, Archimandrite Yevfimy (Moiseyev);

The acting chairman of the Finance and Economic Administration of the Moscow Patriarchate, Hieromonk Ermogen (Burygin);

The chairman of the Synodal Department for the Church’s Relations with Society and the Mass Media, V. P. Legoida;

The head of the Moscow Patriarchate Legal Administration, Abbess Xenia (Chernega).

Those invited to participate in the meeting included Bishop Savva of Zelinograd, deputy chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate; Bishop Nikolay of Balashikha of Orekhovo-Zuevo, head and editor-in-chief of the Moscow Patriarchate Publishers; and A. V. Shipkov, first vice-chairman of the Synodal Department for the Church’s Relations with Society and the Mass Media.
